THE INGREDIENTS OF SUCCESS
Traditional pot still distillation methods combined with smaller barrels and the choice of timbers contribute significantly to Nant’s quality and flavour profile – What makes Nant truly unique is the combination of pristine natural environment and pure natural ingredients.
The water that winds its way down to the millpond is from the river Clyde, which is fed by a million year old glacial lake in the Tasmanian Highlands.
Nant Estate has been growing premium quality barley for almost 200 years. The Nant Distilling Company uses only 100% Tasmanian brewer’s barley, with the Estate currently providing approximately one-third of its own barley needs
Nant Estate sits higher in altitude than many of the famed Scottish distilleries. At sea level the whisky tends to ‘pump’ in and out of the timber at a much faster rate. At Nant Estate, over 1,000 feet above sea level, the whisky is drawn in and out at a much more considered rate; an effect that results in a more intense take up of the timber’s flavour and colour.
